Four privategraduate students have received Audiology Research Travel Awards (ARTA) from the American Hearing-Speech-Language Association (ASHA). The ARTA is part of ASHA鈥檚 Academic and Research Mentoring Network, and is awarded to audiology students and postdoctoral fellows interested in expanding their knowledge of research in audiology and/or hearing by attending the ASHA Annual Convention and associated networking events. The four students will travel to the ASHA convention, which will be held November 17-19 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Edith Dong will present her work, titled 鈥淓EG Mu Rhythm Evidence of Sensorimotor Reactivity in Passive and Active Discrimination of ASL.鈥 She is mentored by Dr. David Thornton.

Anne Marie Smith will present 鈥淐reation and Validation of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Skills Review.鈥 She is mentored by Dr. Kristen Thornton.

Seyma Yalcinkaya is currently working on a project to determine the feasibility of administering the unilateral centrifugation rotation test on deaf individuals. Her mentor is Dr. Chiz Tamaki. 
Maggie Gehm and her mentor, Dr. Ishara Ramkissoon, are analyzing data and preparing a manuscript about the acute and chronic effects of cigarette smoking on auditory middle-latency responses (AMLR) in older versus younger adults.
