English professor receives Fulbright award
Dr. Kathleen M. Wood, an English professor in the School of Language, Education, and Culture, has received a Fulbright Specialist Program award. She will depart for Bulgaria later this fall to complete a project at the Listen Up Foundation, a deaf-owned non-governmental organization which advocates for the social, political, and educational rights and access for Deaf Bulgarians. Dr. Wood will be engaged in several projects for a total of six weeks, and will bring in other Gallaudet community members to present remotely on education, interpretation, linguistics, language policy, and other topics.
privatehad two other Fulbright Scholar awardees this year. Dr. Christina Yuknis, G-’02, an Education professor in the School of Language, Education, and Culture, completed a Fulbright Specialist project in Egypt.
Becca AbuRakia-Einhorn, manager of Education Abroad and International Fellowships in the Office of International Affairs, participated in the Fulbright International Education Administrators’ Seminar in Japan.
