Approximately 420 students – 220 undergraduate and 200 graduate – are expected to receive their degrees at Gallaudet’s 152nd Commencement on Friday, May 13 in the Field House. This will be the first face-to-face Commencement since 2019, and the first time that there have been separate ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students.

Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook will be keynote speaker at the undergraduate ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m. ET. Actress Lauren Ridloff, one of three honorary degree recipients, will also address the Class of 2022, as will graduating student Molly Feanny. Ridloff, Dorothy Sueoka Casterline, ’58, and Carl-Gusaf A. O. Croneberg, ’55, will be awarded Doctor of Humane Letters degrees for their work in advancing language and culture. Professor Emeritus status will be bestowed upon retired faculty members MJ Bienvenu, ’74 & G-’83; Francis M. Duffy; Diane Hottendorf; and Lillie S. Ransom, G-’79, and the recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Member awards for 2021 and 2022 will be announced.

The graduate ceremony, at 9 a.m. ET, will include academic hooding, conferring of degrees, and awards. Boston University professor Naomi Caselli will be the keynote speaker, and Kristina Miranda will address her fellow graduates.
